Costumes by Amy Hanson

For many of the costumes I do, or am thinking of doing, I make up a 'prototype' on a fashion doll. This is much more cost effective then making a full-sized costume if I am unsure there will be a demand for it. Some of the pictures below are therefore of fashion dolls. Anything shown here on a fashion doll I can do 'real size'. That's why they are here on this page.

But....don't limit yourself to what you see here - if you can imagine it, chances are I can sew it. I can sew special occasion fabrics, knits, leather, and vinyl. I can sew corsets and hoop skirts. If there is pattern you want to use, that's fine - if not, we can make one. From Halloween to Gothic, Renfaire to Civil War to other historical clothing, Medieval or other specialty themed weddings - I am willing to attempt anything you can imagine.

Please, email me or phone me at the number found on my main page. I will be happy to discuss possibilities and costs.

A Small Sample of My Work

First up is a cape I have made for one of my clients. It's quite flashy, but then, he designed for use in an Elvis-inspired act in Laughlin, NV, near Las Vegas. This cape is black velvet, with confetti dot ("spangle fabric") for the apliqued eagle. As soon as I have photos from his publicity shots, I'll have one of those up instead. This is 25 hours of aplique work, and I can easily say I do not shrink from the difficult or complicated request. I have also sewn a vinyl cape for this client, which helped get him the Vegas gig.

This is a skating costume I made for a lovely young skater in my area that skates with the Shaker Figure Skating Club. She is wearing her second place metal.

This is my husband and I at a halloween party.

Now, for all you anime fans - yes, I do sew traditional Japanese-style clothing. Here are the Barbie prototypes I did before costuming the cast of a local production of "Hot Mikado" at the Geague Lyric Theater.
